Starting Salary: $34,000

Summit Legal Aid is currently seeking an Intake and Office Administrator for our Somerset County office in Somerset.  

As a member of our team, you will:

  • Handle a variety of day-to-day administration, including answering telephone calls, scanning and distributing correspondence and court filings, and addressing daily needs;

  • Screen applicants for eligibility and processing intake of new client files, including callers, walk-ins, and online applicants;

  • Internally and externally refer applicants to our six other offices and to partners in government, social, and legal services; and

  • Assist attorneys and paralegals with file maintenance, correspondence, and other client matters.

Skills and Requirements:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel and Outlook;
  • Interest and ability to work with a diverse client population of varying social, educational, racial and ethnic backgrounds;
  • Demonstrated ability to work on a team, prioritize responsibilities and manage and meet time-sensitive deadlines;
  • Customer service experience;
  • Pleasant phone manner;
  • Organizational skills to ensure that the office runs smoothly; and
  • Time-management skills.

This position operates in a professional law office environment and occasionally may require the carrying of regular office supplies. This role requires the use of standard office equipment, software, and remote videoconferencing platforms.
