  • Strong client advocacy and legal analysis.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to helping low-income and disadvantaged people overcome institutional barriers to employment, safety, housing, and income support, and the provision of assertive, compassionate, victim-sensitive, trauma-informed services to victims of domestic violence.

Staff Attorney Essential Duties

  • Advise and represent clients in civil legal matters, including but not limited to housing, protection from abuse, and family law, in Fayette and neighboring counties.
  • Collaborate with staff and partners for holistic client advocacy.
  • Maintain a commitment to advocate for the rights of our low-income community.

The starting salary will be at least $68,250 and will depend on experience.  Health, dental, and vision coverage is available for all full-time employees and eligible dependents.  A life insurance plan is provided for each full-time employee, paid entirely by Summit Legal Aid.  A voluntary 403(b) retirement contribution is available, including up to 8% employer contribution, after one year of employment.

This position will be full-time with benefits, but with a prohibition against the outside practice of law.  Flexible work schedules are permitted, when possible, though court appearances will be required as determined by the Courts of Common Pleas and local Magisterial District Courts.
