Fayette County Residents and Workers team with Summit Legal Aid and Urban Rural Action to Launch fayetteuniters.org

October 29, 2026

Uniontown, PA – Fayette Uniters, a collaboration of service professionals and community members, are unveiling a project to provide a hub of resources for those in Fayette County who are reentering society from the criminal justice system and are seeking to establish themselves with employment, housing, and other basic needs to rebuild.  Along with other “Southwestern Pennsylvania Uniters,” Fayette Uniters will co-host a public celebration to kick off the project on Saturday, November 7, from 10:00 to noon at the Westmoreland YWCA, 424 North Main Street, Greensburg, PA 15601.  A lunch will be provided to follow.  Register here to join!

“We look forward to unveiling the culmination of our work this year to identify this community need and the local resources to help those seeking to reestablish and reform their lives,” said Dr. Jo Janoski, coordinator of Fayette Uniters.  “We are fortunate to have a wide range of public servants and nonprofit leaders ready and able to help.  We have created a website, www.fayetteuniters.org, and corresponding materials for each person reentering the community to utilize.”

Fayette Uniters are comprised of representatives from Children and Youth Services, One Voice One Community, Penn State Fayette, Summit Legal Aid, and the public to assist those who are leaving Fayette County Prison, are on probation or parole, or who have a criminal record and are seeking employment, housing, and other resources to be productive, contributing members of the community.  The site also contains information about legal rights for those able to remove past records or restore their driver’s licenses.

“We can represent those eligible to expunge or seal their past, nonviolent criminal records, or to restore their driver’s license, if they meet our financial guidelines,” said Brian Gorman, Executive Director of Summit Legal Aid.  “We are proud to be a part of Fayette Uniters so that local residents in reentry can avail themselves of the strong Fayette County network of service providers while rebuilding their lives and their families.”
